Came by Bull’s Smokin’ BBQ with my friend a couple weeks back. It had been years since I’d been there. The service was good. It’s an order-at-the-counter spot, which is typical of BBQ and something of a relief from hyper-services restaurants. We ordered a pulled pork and a BBQ chicken sandwich. Both were solid, though the pulled pork was a little better in my opinion. Good cook on both meats, though. The sauces are pretty solid here as well—they have 3 different types to choose from. My friend went back to order a beef rib and it was one of the better that I’ve had in Southern California. Very tender, fall-off-the-bone, with a good crust and smokiness. Kind of heavy, but worth it if you’re in the mood. All that said, this isn’t the best BBQ I’ve ever had, but it’s in the 4-star range for California BBQ Forsure. The spot is relaxing, central, no-frills, and filling. It’s worth checking out.

My husband and I are moving things into our storage unit today nearby and he recommended us to go to this BBQ place for lunch. It definitely felt like a hole in the wall it wouldn't be something that necessarily catches your attention when driving by. Inside is a very cute old school style Saloon. We both ordered the pull pork sandwich, a side of fries, onion rings, and my husband also ordered beef rib on the bone. These bones were huge and the meat just fell off! Everything tasted amazing! I really like that they do not add barbecue sauce on two the sandwiches instead offer it on the side so you can decide the spice level and how much sauce you actually want. Also it's s also dog friendly! They will even offer a bone for your dog. There is indoor and outdoor seating. Limited street parking but was easy to find on the Sunday afternoon. Overall, really cute spot and highly recommend if you were craving BBQ in the area!

As a local near this bbq joint I stopped coming here because of the mediocre taste of all the food. I just visited for the first time today in years and was served what tasted and looked like old brisket in my sandwich. The andouille sausage sandwich was decent but the fries were the best part of it all. The service was friendly but not super inviting. Claim to have happy hour but not a huge difference in price to be happy about. Bbq sauces are great the overall environment is nice but the food needs help. If the Mac nd cheese is still the same as it’s been for years I wouldn’t recommend. It wasn’t busy at all and I feel that’s when a restaurant can really impress customers since they have time to pay attention to detail. I believe bbq should be fresh and savory not cold and old tasting. I Really hope the owners can step it up and bring the food some better recipes because today was not great. Best of luck!

It was hottest day in San Diego and we arrived early.. 15 minutes early. I, a ginger was baking in the sun but they welcomed us in early. That was just the start of the excellent service. I did the Duo sandwich… very smart choice of both brisket and pulled pork. What an amazing combination! Paired with Cajun fries and I was in BBQ heaven. The sauces were amazing. I’m glad we drove over 10 miles to get here, this is the BBQ spot. We’ll be back often. I highly recommend!

When you think of San Diego, good bbq is the last thing on your mind. Lemme tell you, this bbq joint right here had me thinking I was traveling from Memphis to Texas. This bbq is by far the best I’ve ever had in the west coast. I copped the Lamb Shank and beef Rib; meat was so tender that I could’ve pulled it off the bone with a spoon. Their house bbq sauce comes in three varieties and they all bussin. My fat ass got the Mac and cheese and some onions rings on the side. This place is like the one other restaurants that has an outdoor dog friendly seating area (also have doggie bones if you ask the server). Wifey got a chicken salad which was served with some smoked chicken that was hittin. I’m telling you, I don’t beat around the bush nor do any of that bs; if you want some authentic bbq, get ya ass down to this place and you’ll won’t regret it. Good meat, good treats and good drinks. I couldn’t try the beer since I was driving but every thing draft and all local beer. Get here and hit em up. I even bought all of the bbq sauces.
