Bully’s East is the definition of a hidden gem and a true San Diego classic. The moment you walk in, you can tell why it’s been a local favorite for so many years. The warm, old-school steakhouse atmosphere makes you feel right at home. The bar area is clean and you don’t get the sticky carpet feeling when you’re walking through like I’ve experienced at other bars. The rich burgundy leather booths are plush and well taken care of. The prime rib was outstanding, perfectly cooked at a medium rare, perfectly seasoned, incredibly tender, juicy, and full of rich, beefy flavor. Every bite practically melted in my mouth. Do yourself a favor and start with the clam chowder. It’s creamy, comforting, and one of the best I’ve had in San Diego. What made the experience even better was the exceptional service, Kylie helped me with my takeout order and she knew the menu well and asked the right questions to help me make a decision. Everyone was friendly, attentive, and genuinely cared upon my entering which is rare when a woman walks into an old school sports bar. It’s becoming rare to find restaurant bars that consistently deliver both amazing food and outstanding hospitality, but Bully’s East does exactly that. If you’re craving an excellent prime rib dinner, this place deserves a spot at the top of your list. It’s easy to see why locals keep coming back year after year. I’ll definitely be returning. This place is great for a quick bite or to watch the game with friends while enjoying a well-cooked steak.
Think old world, leather booths, sports memorabilia, and charm. Stopped in for happy hour with some friends on a Tuesday afternoon. Great happy hour menu at amazing prices. Draft beer $5, margaritas $7, and tasty menu items under $12.
The service was good, and everyone was welcoming. There aren't a lot of gluten free items if you have any dietary restrictions. The teriyaki steak skewers, steak fries, and Burger, were good. The only thing that was not enjoyed was the Kung Pao wings, and the Chicken chipotle soup. Those wings are usually crispier, but these were not. And the soup has a lot of spice with no flavor.
First time here and for the most part, 5 Stars. The only the little dink was this: 99% of the time, when ordering Prime Rib across USA, I am served it being roasted. This Prime Rib was served a grilled steak, which wasn't clearly mentioned on the menu. I requested rare and this was by no means rare, with grilled marks. French Onion soup was very good. My side, Asparagus, was spot on! Service was a delight. Bathrooms were very clean.
Had a glass of wine and my fiancé had a mixed drink at the bar. Enjoyed a half dozen oysters. They were awesome. But we want to come back on Father's Day and try their prime rib.
