Seven Grand San Diego

Cocktails are pretty mid. The highball didn't have any whiskey smell and was clear. Easily better made at home. Atmosphere is nice though. Lots of whiskey displays.

Seven Grand is easily one of the best whiskey bars in San Diego. Their happy hour is shockingly affordable for the quality, and the whiskey selection is top-tier — shelves and shelves of options for every palate. The bar staff really knows their craft too; they’re not just pouring drinks, they’re educating, recommending, and clearly passionate about whiskey. I came in thinking nothing could pull me away from my usual Old Fashioned, but their Ride the Boogie cocktail proved me wrong — bold, balanced, and insanely good. And then there’s the speakeasy in the back… a completely different vibe and an entirely amazing experience on its own. It feels like stepping into another world — intimate, atmospheric, and perfect for a slower, more laid-back round of drinks. Between the killer happy hour, knowledgeable bartenders, standout cocktails, and that hidden speakeasy, Seven Grand is a must-visit. I’ll definitely be back.

I’ve been here quite a few times, and it’s always a solid go-to, especially if you’re into whiskey. It’s a fantastic whiskey bar with an impressive selection, and their Old Fashioned always delivers. They also mix some really great cocktails across the board. The space has a lot going for it. There are two pool tables, an outdoor smoking area, and a separate back room that usually opens up on weekends, which helps when the main bar fills up. That said, weekends get very crowded. It can take a while to get a drink, seating is tough to find, and it gets loud enough that holding a conversation isn’t always easy. Parking in the area can also be a bit of a headache. It’s not a huge place, but it’s always clean and well kept. Even with the crowds, the drinks deliver and the vibe is cool. Definitely a spot I keep coming back to.

I was in the area so I finally got to visit this bar. It’s dark inside but looks elegant. It’s got the whisky bar feeling. The bar area is nice. There are two pool tables, a booth, an area for dart games and an open window seating area. The Happy hour menu looks simple. I ordered a happy hour mule and then ordered another one because it was good lol. There’s a speakeasy in the back. I’d love to check it out one day.

They need a mirror in the bathroom. They need a hard kombucha on tap or in a can. Not everybody who comes is a whisky drinker. Menu is rediculously tiny and gives no starter information on their vast selection. Three of the beers on tap were unavailable. I get it this is a whisky spot, however if I come with a whisky lover and I'm not, there should still be options.
