Kairoa is easily one of the best spots in University Heights for a sunny afternoon. The rooftop patio is incredible—great views, super open, and really chill vibes. Plus, it’s dog-friendly, which is always a win. We came here for lunch and were blown away by the food. My fiancée and I are vegan, and Kairoa is one of the few breweries that actually puts effort into their plant-based menu. We shared the Vegan Fysh & Chips and the loaded fries, and they were excellent—even for non-vegans, the flavors are legit. Great beer selection, awesome architecture, and food that works for everyone in the group. Definitely hit up the rooftop if you can!

had an amazing happy hour experience! we loved the upstairs patio and our server janie was so sweet and awesome! the duck confit fries are absolutely to die for, and we’ll definitely be back soon to try more things!

100% excellent patio and very dog friendly. Service was excellent and staff was attentive. Food was just fine, literally just fine. We had the happy hour cheese burger, the bacon burger and two of the spicy chicken sandwiches along with the sweet potato tots. The tots were fine but $9 for a handful of tots. The burgers were really not very well executed. The bacon on that one was like eating beef jerky. The chicken sandwichs were fine but the biggest loser were the fries. These were just bad. Zero seasoning. Literally zero. They tasted like water and potato. Someone forgot to throw a dash of salt on them when they came out of the frier. We may be back and take the dogs and enjoy the patio but we'll 100% be changing what we order if we do.

We just had beer, but it was pretty good and the place was really nice. Our dog was really comfy, and so it seemed were the other dogs around. They also apparently have a ton of events, and the food menu looked very varied, with healthy, vegetarian, vegan, and classic brewery options. We’ll come back for dinner another time!!

A tough decision for where to eat in my last evening in San Diego with so many great choices. This restaurant has to be near the top as the food was excellent with its roof-top views and superb service. There were so many good choices on the menu that it was honestly difficult to choose what to order. We tried both the Chicken sandwich and the Salmon dish and both were excellent. I look forward to returning in my next visit to town.
