Maggie's Cafe

Fantastic breakfast and lunch spot in one of the best food hubs in San Diego, located in Barrio Logan near Chicano Park. This is the sister restaurant of the Maggie's Cafe in Serra Mesa with the same menu of comfort food staples with a Mexican twist. Today I had the chile verde omelette, featuring perfectly seared beef with a bit of crispiness on the edges and silky caramelized onions, adding earthy sweetness to the dish. The Chile verde sauce is bright and flavorful with a hint of heat. Served with rice, beans, and tortillas, it will fill you up, and you'll probably have leftovers to take home. Service is friendly and fast. The atmosphere is cheerful and airy with wide open doors to let in the Southern California sunshine and breeze. Great place for large parties and for watching the big game.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Maggie’s Cafe is the kind of San Diego spot you don’t brag about — you just quietly make it part of your routine. Super cozy, relaxed ocean-resort Mexican cafe vibe, no fake VIP energy, no nonsense… just good food, friendly people, and a smooth operation. Had the breaded steak, eggs, and potatoes breakfast — honestly awesome. Proper flavor, satisfying portion, exactly what you need before a full day of moving and building things. Big thanks to David for letting me try some and for the legendary warning that the salsa has “a little kick.” For him maybe… for me 😄 let’s just say it definitely wakes you up. But superb — fresh, bold, and addictive. Staff feels professional but very easygoing, organized without being stiff. The whole place runs clean and simple, which I respect a lot. Lately I’ve been around Gaslamp more often since expanding my high-end 24/7 art-studio-grade digital & offset printing lab downtown under the iPrintSD™ name. Becoming part of the downtown community means discovering local gems like this — and Maggie’s is definitely staying on my breakfast and lunch rotation. Well deserved 5 stars. Real spot. Real vibe. We went there at 9:30 am on a Saturday , The place was packed, the food and the service is outstanding and unique, I got the border Benedict’s which were the right combination of taste and quantity for my dish. Since it’s an indoors enclose space, it got really loud very quick and it got hot too, there was a large soccer team of teen girls that came in and made the room even louder so it was har to talk for a table of 2. Just keep that on mind if you were looking for a quiet place to converse this is not it.

We had an amazing Sunday breakfast on the patio at Maggie’s cafe. Parking was plentiful and free in the public lots surrounding the restaurant. Standout dishes for us were the chorizo skillet and the chile relleno omelette. We also had coffee and bloody marys and they were excellent. Service was fast, friendly, and efficient. We were seated immediately on the patio. Highly recommend - we would definitely come back when visiting San Diego.

The food is really good, my tortilla soup was just what I needed and so was my Paloma. We didn’t get greeted till 8 min after we sat down, we had to get someone’s attention, but they were friendly and attentive afterwards. The place is spacious with parking out front, it’s a cute Mexican restaurant.
