My wife and I went to Rustic Root for Valentine’s Day. And it exceeded our expectations. First, the staff were extremely attentive and friendly for the entire experience. Secondly, the views from the second floor were great for people watching in the Gaslamp Quarter. Third, we enjoyed the vibes and music. Fourth, we appreciated the decor throughout the establishment to celebrate Valentine’s Day. Lastly, the food was top notch. I ordered the Maryland Style Crab Cake Eggs Benedict for Brunch and my wife ordered the Iceberg Wedge Salad. Both meals were delicious. Such a great way to start the day. We definitely plan on returning!

We stumbled upon this place on accident during our walk around the the Gaslamp District. Got some drinks and it was good. We were in and out and on with the night. We came back the other night for dinner. So good! Wagu Meatballs, with some drinks and both were delicious, ordered the Dry Age Steak, good flavor, cooked perfectly. For being medium rare, it wasn't as tender as it could have been. But it was juicy and had good flavor. If we ever come back to San Diego, we'd comeback here. Rooftop seating area was very nice!

I hosted my Black Boys Brunch at Rustic Root and everything was incredible. The aesthetic was beautiful and the food was amazing, but I have to give a special shoutout to the manager Jesse. He was so accommodating and genuinely friendly. Our server Allison was just as amazing. We had a large group and she made us feel completely welcomed while being so patient with everyone. I would absolutely recommend Rustic Root to anyone.

If bliss had a soundtrack, this place would be playing it live. From the moment we walked in, the vibe struck that perfect balance between lively and laid-back. The live music wasn’t just background noise—it was the kind of performance that makes you pause mid-bite, smile, and think, “Okay, this is a moment.” The covers were charming, familiar in the best way, and delivered with enough personality to feel fresh. And speaking of fresh—let’s talk about that summery heirloom tomato salad. Fresh Heirloom Tomatoes, Crispy fried pimento cheese, basil, fried croutons, apple cider vinaigrette. It was light, vibrant, and somehow exactly what I didn’t know I was craving, it tasted like sunshine on a plate. The crisp ingredients, bright flavors, were just enough flair to feel special without being fussy. Great food, great music, great mood—this spot didn’t just meet expectations, it serenaded them into submission. I’d go back in a heartbeat (and maybe hum along next time).
