Outback Steakhouse

Great experience! First time in Outback in years and our server Donald and the manager were so generous and quick. We appreciated the satisfying dinner and we made the most of the 3 Course Aussie Meal deal!

A Clairemont Square staple for many years. This fair-to-middling steakhouse sits squat in the middle of the Square, like a slightly red-glowing beacon in the San Diego dusk. All jokey commentary aside—it’s not bad, not at all. The best? Not that either, but let’s get into the meat of this review already, no pun intended. For the price, Outback Steakhouse is pretty solid. The filet mignon, baked potato, chicken sandwich, and cheeseburger are all pretty solid here! You gotta love the complimentary rye bread and butter, too. The flavor and cook on everything is consistent, and definitely a slight notch above average. That said, this is a franchise chain and obviously they aren’t pumping out the top-tier level of steak that you might find at a place like Cowboy Star or Freddy’s Chophouse. But it’s good for the price, like I said. The service is also consistently really good here. The wait staff and bartenders are all very friendly, welcoming, and show just the right amount of attention—helpful without being overbearing. If you’re looking for a quick, good, decently priced meat-forward meal, Outback Steakhouse might be a good option for you.

Great neighborhood spot where everybody knows your name. By everybody I mean the wonderful service staff. Nancy, Ian, Dylan, Chris, Randy and Kyle are so hard working and very personable. While I come here often and enjoy the food I would have to say it’s the staff that keeps me coming back. As of recently, I have had the pleasure to meet the young man at the host stand, Aiden. He is always so nice and attentive and great with the customers and you can tell he cares about his job. This staff gives Service With A Smile a whole new meaning.

Amazing service all around! Served quickly, and cooked to order! Asked by many people if we were good. I am beyond impressed with this Outback! We are here from out of town for basketball, and have drove 8 hours to get here! There was no wait and the service was perfection. Donald was an amazing server! Very friendly and made sure we had everything we needed!

First time in Outback, we ordered a bone-in Ribeye which was done perfectly with good smoky flavor. The baked potatoes were great. Our kids ordered sirloin with coconut shrimp. They were delicious and good deal. The waitress Kim was super patient with us since we didn’t know what to order and took a long time. The manager Leiah was amazing, super gracious and kind. We asked for the steak to cook a little more since our boy wanted it more well done. She personally made sure they were done right. We are impressed with the quality and service. Definitely coming back.
