Bencotto

I started with the seafood bisque which was good and had a lot of meat in it. The squid ink gnocchi with the bisque sauce was also good - a nicely sized portion with lots of shrimp in it. However, nothing really blew me away. For drinks, I had a negroni and an espresso martini (which was excellent). For dessert, the cannoli and panacotta were also good. Overall, I was satisfied. Outdoor seating was also nice.

Bencotto was a really enjoyable Italian dining experience in San Diego. The pasta tasted fresh and homemade, and you can tell they put a lot of care into the quality and flavor of the food. I especially enjoyed the rich sauces and authentic Italian atmosphere throughout the restaurant. The service was friendly and attentive, and the overall ambiance felt cozy and welcoming, making it a great place for a dinner with friends or family. The portions were also satisfying, and the ingredients tasted fresh. The reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is that the restaurant was a bit busy and the wait time was longer than expected, but overall the experience was still very good. I would definitely recommend trying Bencotto if you are looking for quality Italian food in San Diego.

Went for happy hour lunch in the patio and it was so tasty. The pizza and pasta was good for sharing and four peppersauce was Our favorite. Luis was very knowledgeable at our questions. Frankie was great with refilling our water and was very kind. The manager there Felicia made us feel welcomed and at home. I will be recommending this restaurant to all my friends and family.

Despite the like was seated at the bar quickly, offered good drink selection and nice recommendations on appetizers. Took fritz riso and it was delicious. Pasta was finished in the cheese wheel - omg. So good! And they located that wheel right next to an entrance so it feels really Italian place after all!

Okay y’all… if you are in Downtown San Diego and have NOT been to Bencotto yet, WHAT are you doing?! 😍🍝 Just had the most AMAZING dinner there with my gal pals and I’m still thinking about it this morning over coffee lol. First of all, our server Scott was an absolute GEM. Attentive, funny, knowledgeable, and somehow knew exactly when we needed another glass of wine 😂 You can tell he genuinely cares about giving people a great experience. And can we PLEASE talk about Sophia, the food runner?! Sweetest young lady ever and so on top of everything. Our food came out hot, fresh, and beautifully presented. She was hustling all night with the biggest smile on her face. These restaurants need more people like her! The pasta? TO DIE FOR. Fresh, rich, authentic Italian comfort food that honestly transported me straight to Italy (or at least what I imagine Italy feels like 😂). Every bite was incredible and portions were generous too. Service like this is getting harder and harder to find these days, so when you experience a team that truly goes above and beyond, it deserves recognition. Huge thank you to Scott and Sophia for making our girls night so special. We will absolutely be back!! ❤️🍷🇮🇹
