Rubio's Coastal Grill

The Original Fish Tacos are just sublime. I’m not sure what they do to make the batter so light and the fish so fresh. The salsa bar has an option for every palate including tomatillo, and a smokey option, among others plus extra limes (you get several with your order) and cilantro and onion. We had a steak, several originals and an especial taco and we’ll be back several times during this visit. This location has outdoor seating only, but the weather was great as always, and you would rather sit outside anyway.

Taking a tour of Mission Bay and decided to stop at Rubio's Costal Grill (the Original Fish Taco). Locals may be used to their delicious fare but we were pleasantly surprised how delicious their tacos were. The trio was impressive!

I went to the original Rubio’s location in Pacific Beach. I can’t fully explain how cool the vibe is, but it’s there! I can’t fully explain see why this restaurant became so successful. I only wish all other locations had a similar vibe. What’s cool about it is that the seating is almost entirely outdoors. Sure, there is a covered area in case it rains but mostly you feel transported to some cool Mexico eatery and it just feels right. Of course, the food was great too and the service was prompt and friendly. This location is becoming ma new go-to!

Luckily the place was right next to my hotel. Great food, good size portions, friendly staff! Order ahead to have to food waiting when you arrive!

The fish tacos were great. I had the shrimp trio the next night and was equally pleased. The salsa bar allows you to make it fit your heat level. The staff was friendly and the place was clean. Its an easy lunch or supper.
