The Baseline: For a Mexican restaurant the flavors of the food must make use of the prime Mexican ingredients (corn, beans, chiles, rice, cheese, and meats), preparation of sauces/salsas, the meal portion size must make me feel full, and feeling of the restaurant must give me the feeling of a Mexican restaurant. Food: Lucha Libre had some very good flavors for their offerings. The Champion Nachos were great with chicken and the sauce almost had a mole rather than chipotle taste (5 out of 5). The tacos were all well done and they had great presentation and taste (4 out of 5; average). The Burritos are bricks of delicious Mexican flavor wrapped into a tight blanket of tortilla (5 out of 5). Service: Self order kiosk to make ordering easy. Great service from the staff delivering food. Ambiance: Mexican Wrestler vibes, feels, and decor makes me happy to eat Mexican food here. The restaurant was inviting and clean. Clean bathroom and the patio was well maintained. Parking in the adjacent lot is easy if you can find a space and you need to pay attention to what spaces are designated to which business.
View on Google ↗Living in San Diego for quite some time, and spending most of my life here, you would think many of the well known Mexican restaurants and taco shops around the city would already be familiar. Somehow that was not the case, so the decision was made to visit a spot that has long been a favorite among locals and visitors. That restaurant is Lucha Libre Taco Shop. The moment you walk in, the vibrant colors on the walls and the luchadores (Mexican Wrestlers) decor create an energetic and playful atmosphere. Instead of ordering at a counter, guests place their orders on two tablets near the entrance, and the staff calls out your letter when your food is ready. The process felt smooth and convenient. The food was excellent, cooked with care and seasoned perfectly. The salsas were full of flavor and paired beautifully with each dish. The staff members were friendly, outgoing, and very helpful, which added to the overall experience.
View on Google ↗⚠️ CUSTOMER WARNING ⚠️ I ordered the carne asada nachos, but what I received was basically a plate of cheese and bean nachos with a few scraps of meat thrown on top. Calling this "carne asada nachos" is misleading at best. For the price they charge, I expected a generous portion of carne asada. Instead, I spent most of the meal digging through the nachos trying to find the meat. There was far more cheese and beans than actual carne asada. If you're craving carne asada, prepare to be disappointed. The quality and portion size were nowhere near what was advertised or expected. Pay $20 dlls for just cheese and beans. Save your money and think twice before ordering the carne asada nachos here. There are plenty of taco shops that actually serve meat with their "carne asada" nachos. Very disappointing experience. I won't be ordering this item again.
View on Google ↗Visiting my hometown, I had to stop by this spot since good Mexican food is hard to find in NJ. This place is an absolute must for burritos in San Diego. The Surfin’ California tasted exactly like my childhood — honestly the best burrito of my entire life. I wish I could take it back home with me. Their creamy cilantro sauce is also insanely good and takes everything to the next level. If you’re in San Diego, this is a spot you can’t skip!
View on Google ↗The food is so good. All of the menu items can be ordered to make with vegan meat. Jackfruit is used for vegan meat. You can taste all authentic Mexican food and vegan. Salsa bar is another highlight, It can satisfy a toddler with creamy sause and an adult as well with insane spicy habenro.
