I’ve developed a newfound appreciation for charcuterie. What I tasted at Vinum Locus beats anything I’ve tried before — by a mile. The smoked salami paired with a Basque cheese was just the beginning of an epicurean delight. Unique pickled onions, cauliflower, and green beans mingled with the sweetness of Italian pistachio crème, raisins, and glazed almonds, all set atop perfectly crunchy toasted bread. It was a true symphony of taste and texture — every bite checking all the boxes. I’m now officially hooked and excited to return regularly to explore the rotating meats and cheeses, paired with their excellent selection of wines by the glass. My only regret? Waiting so long to try this place.
View on Google ↗My husband and I were looking for a fairly nice dining experience for New Year's Eve and stumbled upon this place. Unfortunately we we're a little late and weren't able to die in here, but it's been on my mind since! So finally we made our way back and finally got to dying here this past thursday! I believe our server's name was alexis, she was super nice, hospitable, warm and welcoming, and knowledgeable about the menu and whines. I honestly had high expectations of this place and was so happily impressed that it lived up to my impression! My husband ordered a glass of white wine that he loved so much he bought a bottle before we left (btw some bottles are 20%)! It seems the charcuterie board is a signature item since it is displayed in detail on their back wall, although we felt like that might have been a little too much in addition to some Main dishes. Instead we ordered the olives, the stuffed dates, two caviar hash browns, the red and purple carrots, and I ordered the Beet and goat cheese salad with New York strip on the side and my husband ordered the main dish New York strip. I loved everything we ordered! I was so happy, everything had such a wonderful combination of flavor. We just moved to OB and I'm really excited to make this a new regular spot for my husband and I. If you're looking for a nice dining experience, that is a little hole in the wall, and affordable, this is the spot!
View on Google ↗Hidden gem in downtown OB. A place where adults can go to dinner. Staff was attentive and after dinner had a nice visit with Chef Nick. Wine pairings were spot on and the selections came from US, France, Italy. I had a fantastic spicy shrimp and Ca halibut dish with lentils and the Mrs had a great butternut squash risotto. Charcuterie board appetizer was full of delights. We both chose the 5 tasting wine flight and made our final call for the dinner pairing. Well worth the moneyDon’t miss this place!

View on Google ↗Yesterday my 14 year old daughter and I checked out a new spot to eat and we were not disappointed! Finding elevated food on Newport Ave was such a delight! For me, OB has some good food but it isn’t a spot I would have chosen for something spectacular, until now. First thing we noticed was the good drum and bass playing and the beautiful fresh flowers brought to the table. Clean cute little spot with a great ambiance! Our server was friendly and attentive, the service and experience was all around great! My daughter was brought a bubbly orange juice and I ordered a Aperol Spritz. It was prepared perfectly. We decided on the beef carppacio first and she devoured it, deciding at the end she better save a bite for mommy, but this was an excellent sign. She eats all kinds of foods….but has a certain affinity for the finer items. I got a few bites, and definitely agreed with her enthusiasm! We got one more dish since we had other dinner plans, and left it to the chef to choose. He brought the one I’d really had my eye on, perfectly cooked Opah fish in a lemongrass coconut sauce with mushrooms and chili oil. There was not one drop left in the bowl, I could eat this everyday and so could she. Perfectly seasoned, beautifully plated and amazingly delicious! Now to go back for a full meal as a family, this is our new spot in Ocean Beach! If you haven’t gone in and let Mark cook for you yet, don’t wait, don’t miss out on the seasonal rotating menu!
