Came here from Sacramento to visit and glad this was my first experience in SD's gayborhood! My bartender, Melissa, was super attentive and fun to talk to and so were the people nearby. Was fun connecting with strangers. I had a Hemingway Daquiri to drink and a grilled cheese, fries, and onion rings to eat, all of which were delicious. Love the vintage-y aesthetic, had a homey vibe to it.
View on Google ↗Stopped by Nunu Tavern during the daytime recently and had a really great experience. The bar has a fantastic retro vibe that’s fun and welcoming—vintage decor, classic touches, and a laid-back atmosphere that makes it perfect for a relaxed afternoon drink or chat. What stood out most was Jeremiah behind the bar. He’s awesome—super attentive, quick to notice when you need a refill, and genuinely friendly. He remembered what we ordered and even offered some solid recommendations that hit the spot. You can tell he takes pride in making sure everyone feels taken care of
View on Google ↗Not really a bar person, went there for the food so I will focus on that. The food was really good. Probably one of the best burgers I have had in San Diego. The bar tender that night was nice too and was really good at banter.
View on Google ↗Horrible experience this evening. Waiter was the doorman. He never asked how my food was. I had to ask for a refill on soda, had to ask for flatware (which was plastic ware) and had to ask for ketchup. Also I did not receive an itemized receipt. I don’t know what I was charged for. I’ve been to Nunus many times and had great service. Tonight was awful!!
View on Google ↗Nunu’s is an unsuspecting little tavern, but I found myself pleasantly surprised! The sangria was quite tasty (and strong), and the yard bird club was really quite a good sandwich. I was impressed by the quality as I only expected run-of-the-milk bar food. Nunu’s does a good job of elevating their fare and drink to the next level. The atmosphere is semi-loungey and it feels intimate enough that you can have a fairly private and experience in a crowded bar. I’ll definitely be back! Update: Came back tonight with an old fiend and enjoyed a couple of Fall Brewing’s Japanese lager “Tora”, plus a Smokestack burger and a Yardbird sandwich. Everything was super tasty as always! My friend was pretty impressed by the Smokestack burger. We had a nice time hanging out and chatting, enjoying the food and drinks. Nunu’s is still going strong and churning out tasty eats and welcoming vibes.
